“The carriage house is fun, unique, and charming.”

“Your place is our favorite getaway spot. We particularly enjoyed the full moon rising behind the carriage house in the evenings and setting in front in the mornings.”
Jan and Chris Stanley
The Carriage House—once part of a 220-year-old chestnut bank barn and dance hall from a nearby farm—is reminiscent of a cozy cottage at the end of a winding lane. It is about 500 feet from the main house and is on one level, making it the preferred lodging for guests with limited mobility or who have young children. A makeover of the carriage house, begun in 2021, included moving the queen-size pencil-post bed into a 300-square-foot addition with weathered pine floors, walk-in closet and view of the upper horse pasture. The original space of 450 square feet – an airy room painted in deep colors of gold and cranberry with a vaulted ceiling and skylight – now contains an expanded living area with a sofa (which converts into a double-size bed), rustic table that seats four, small gaming table with two chairs, leather easy chair and ottoman, and a gas fireplace that provides wonderful ambiance on chilly days. The bathroom boasts a whirlpool-style air tub and shower, vessel-style sink and heated tile floor. A hot breakfast typically is served in a private room at the main house. Guests also may choose an expanded continental breakfast served in the suite.
The carriage house does not have Wi-Fi.
